He was also a member of the Jewish War Veterans (Post 39), of the South Philadelphia High School Alumni Association (life member), and of the Athelstan Lodge (No.482) of the Free and Accepted Masons (earning a 32nd Degree). Before he retired, Sam made a difference in the South Jersey community by working with a broad range of professional, business, and service organizations. A long time entrepreneur, he was a compassionate man, whose philanthropic and civic-minded activities aimed at “giving something back to the community” where he was so successful. Samuel Gans was listed in the Who’s Who in: the World, America, Finance & Industry and the East.

Gans was born, raised and lived in Philadelphia, and was an active member and supporter of the former Congregation Beth Emeth. Survived by sons Gary (Ilene) and Jeffrey (Ellyn), four grandchildren Natan, Ari, Felicia, and Jared, dear friend Marion, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
